How's it going?
It's going bloody great thanks! We've just got back from touring in Europe which was incredible. We're heading out on a brief stint with Forward Russia next week too, which should be ace.
Do you like Cats?
We do indeed like cats a lot, so much so that we chose a whole litter to be our name. Look out for hideously overpriced cat-related brick a brack on our merch table at gigs.
What are you up to at the moment?
The new album is about 1/3rd written and some other unfinished songs are starting to come together really well on top of that. We've been playing four brand new songs in Europe and they're mostly about weird animal-human hybrids that are unlucky in love. We saw a revolving house on a roundabout in Holland, so the rest of the songs on the album will be about that. And the rules are a secret you bloody naughty robots. All will be revealed sometime soon...ish.
How do you go about writing songs?
Ben, our fiendishly handsome singer, writes a lot of the music and lyrics. The rest of us take his ideas, add bits and bobs and help structure the songs until they sound like Creed.
What are your influences?
Our influences are pretty varied. For example; our drummer (Dougler) only listens to Pantera and is physically sick if we play him anything softer. Collectively the rest of us like stuff like bjork, radiohead, neutral milk hotel, arcade fire and at the drive-in and loads of other stuff like. I think NMH and other Elephant Six stuff comes across in the melodies and folkier parts of our songs, but there's always this counter balance of At The Drive-In esque post hardcore that hopefully makes us sound like, well...us.
How did you get together?
Prior to cats3 we were all in various other ensembles, ranging from metal bands (Dougster) to orchestras and punky bands (the rest of us) before we all got together at University and decided to chill the fuck out.
Do you work out much?
Have you seen us?! There's not a scrape of muscle between four out of five of us. Our drummer (Dougleberry) is a bit of a beefcake but the rest of us can't even pick up our amps.
Do you watch much TV?
I don't think any of us watch much TV really, except Tom who can tell you the 8th word spoken in every episode of Taggart. Seriously though, I don't think we watch much TV at all! I do love that advert with the dog singing and being all nervous though, does that count?
Were you good boys at school?
We have more GCSEs than you do elbows.
POW!
Catties Xx
